Back in October I posted about China setting up the Rare Earth Industry Association. Yesterday it did happen. This will help its 155 members to handle trade disputes and promote international trade exchanges.
China has recently come under intense scrutiny from President Obama and other leaders for trade issues and perhaps this is the first step to rectifying concerns. As the effective tax rate on exports is 42% many argue this gives an unfair advantage to domestic Chinese customers.
